Sympathy Tri-Fold Shutter card

There is a lady on one of our chat forums who recently lost her husband. My heart just aches for her.  I don't know her much but we share the common liking for paper and the love of a husband.   I can't even imagine what she might be going through. My husband is my best friend and my life.  I know a card won't take away the pain but I hope that it will let her know that someone cares for her and is thinking about her in this trying time.

I used the Tri-Fold Shutter card style. It seems to be my favorite card.  It can be fun yet elegant and very simple to make.  I used strictly the Lori's Garden cartridge on the Imagine. It's hard to see in the picture but I did used pop dots on the butterfly's and the center. The big butterfly and the long one on the right I used the layer function and cut it out in layers.  I will write a little note in the center. Then the top and bottom I used stamps from Everyday sayings from Hero Arts, Poly Clear. I hope that she likes it.

I hope that everyone hugs there loved ones a little bit closer for we never know when it might be the last time.

More Note holders

Well the plan was to do a craft fair this weekend. But the weather was really windy and I got a nasty  cold so I was unable to participate in the show.  But here is something that I would've had at the fair. The good news is the Craft fair was kinda a bust so I didn't feel too bad about not participating.

I got these little note pads you know the ones I'm talking about. You can pretty much find them anywhere and they usually cost about a $1.  So again wanting to use my new Cinch I made this note pad into a note book.

The hearts were left over from other projects that I didn't end up using. I just ran them through the cuttlebug. The red behind the frog I ran through the cuttlebug in the Sizzix Valentines folder. Then the frog was cut at 3" from yes, Create a Critter. I love this cartridge I can't believe I didn't have this cartridge until recently.
The inside I just did with a plain pink paper and the back is the same heart printed paper as the front. I inked the edges in red.

Thanks for looking, hope to see you back soon.

Post it Note holder

I got The Cinch for Christmas this year and have been wanting to use it. So I made these little post it note holders.  I used the Create a Critter Cartridge and some scraps I had laying around.

I did put the paper on the inside sideways, but for my 1st one I know not to do it next time. I got these cute little post it's at Target out of the $1 bins

Altered "Notes" book

I love these little composition notebooks. I found them in a 3pk at our $1 store. They measure 4 3/4" X 31/2" . I used Create a Critter and cute each cut at 3". I added googlie eyes. ( I love the googlie eye's) The "Notes" I can't remember for the life of me which cartridge I used, but I cut out of black Vinyl.  I can't wait to alter some more of these little books. It's a great way to use up some of those scraps I've got piling up. Thanks for stopping by, see ya soon.

Valentine's Day Card Blog Hop

I'm so excited to be participating in this Valentine's Day Card Blog hop with some amazing and talented ladies. If you've just come from Nikki http://www.theglamoroussideofscrapping.blogspot.com/ then you are right on track. If you didn't come from Nikki and want to Hop along head over to Ellen at  http://www.cardmonkey-business.blogspot.com/  to start from the begining.

The card I made today is the Tri-Fold or shutter card. I used the Sweethearts Cartridge for the large red heart, the small white hearts and the xoxo and Wild Card for the Sentiment. Then A Child's Year for the girl. I used the Valentine's Sizzix embossing folder for the red embossed paper and the polka  dot folder for the girl and for the red background paper under the xoxo. Then added a few stones with i-rock.
.

I used pop dot's under the front Be My Valentine  and under the little girl.

This is what the front of the card looks like once it's been folded up.

I wanted to do another project and it's taken a little longer than planned. That thing called life keeps getting in the way of my crafting. So this is what I am working on. I feel that it needs a little more embellishments but another day.
I used Wild Card & Sweethearts cartridges for the cuts. The tin was silver from the dollar store and I spray painted it white. The heart border on the bottom is paper punched made by Recollections.

Now for the BLOG CANDY!! Since this is a card Blog Hop I found these little "friend" sentiment stamps that would be cute for cards. I will pick a random commenter on this post on Monday January 24th so leave me a way to contact you.  You don't have to be a follower to win but I always welcome new followers.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Your next stop is Jaime at  glitterstampspaperohmy
If you get lost along the way, here is a list of the participating blogs

I had bought this paper because it was Anna Griffen and an option to use in the ProvoCraft Card Challenge. I didn't end up using this paper for the challenge but I did end up making this card.
I used the sweethearts cartridge for the Love and the heart.

My Provocraft Card Contest entry

If you hadn't heard Provo Craft is launching a new product on January 20th on HSN. Jinger and Provo Craft announced on there facebook page that they were giving us a chance to win the new product from Provo Craft and Anna Griffin. The Challenge was to make a card using something Anna Griffin and using Don Juan, Winter Lace (seasonal) and Wall Décor & More Cartridge. Well the only one of those 3 cartridges that I currently have is Wall Decor & More. I love Anna Griffin products and sadly I couldn't find anything in my arsenal of supplies. I hit my local craft stores and could only find single sheet's of paper.  So the printed paper on this card is Anna Griffin and the Guitar and the "you rock" were cut using the Wall Decor & More. I used silver stickles on the letters.
To me it seems so plain so I'm sure it won't go far but it was fun to participate and I hope to see other people's entries.

Thank you gift set

Ok I wish I could take credit for this project but I can not. I got this idea from Craft Junkie Too. It was from her videos # 125, 126 and 127. I switched up a couple of things but this was my take on her project.
My mother in law was so kind to come into our home and take care of the kiddos and things for a whole week while I was having my surgery. I wanted to do something for her. I think she'll like it.
The ribbon I used for the handle is a light pink ribbon. The brads are pearl brads made by Recollections. The Tulle I got from my local Dollar store and the flowers were just random flowers laying around.
For the butterfly I used Wall Decor and More. I doodled around the butterfly with a white pen and the photo is hard to see but I have 3 i-rock gems on each of the wings.

I used a stamp set I bought at Joann's. I think it was Fiskars but I threw away the package so I don't know for sure. The phrase says, "you make my heart flutter".

These are the seals I made for the envelopes.
I made a total of 7 cards. One card for her telling her how much I really  appreciated her and the other 6 will be blank inside for her to do with what she wants.

Hoo's having a Birthday

I made this card for my little sister. I used Create a Critter for this adorable owl and the branch. Then used Hoot n' Holler for the phrase.

Hang in there.

My little nephew of 6 yrs old was just diagnosed with Diabetes. It just breaks my heart that he has to go through this in his life.  I wanted to send him something to cheer him up.  I love this monkey. It makes me smile every time I see it. I hope that it makes him smile.

I used Create a Critter Cartridge for all the cuts except the little sign I used Walk in my Garden. I hand wrote on the sign with white pen. Then used pop dots behind the monkey and it looks like it is hanging right off the page.  I also decorated the envelope to match.

My FABULOUS finds Haul!!

I had to go into Scottsdale yesterday for my post op appointment. I live about 3 hours from there so decided since I was there I would stop at Michael's and see what they had. I knew they were having a huge cartridge sale but I had heard it wouldn't start until today. Well the first Michael's had there $9.99 Clearance sale on selected cartridges all ready up and going. So I was able to pick up Paisley, Pagoda, Pooh Font, A Child's Year and Lyrical Letters. All these were only $9.99!!!! I also was able to pick up the poinsettia punch around the page punch set for only $4.99

Well there were a couple more cartridges that I really wanted at the $9.99 price but were all ready gone. I search several different Michael's in the area and was not able to find them. So I drove home and hit the Michael's at home and here is what I found for the $9.99 price. I got United we Stand, From My Kitchen and Freshly Picked. Yes I said Freshly Picked. I asked the cashier if she had any in back that were on sale and she said Freshly picked. I told her that I wanted that one along with the other 2. When she rang up the Freshly Picked it rang up for $89.99. I thought that that wasn't one of the sale ones. She said no I'm sure it had a sticker on it in the back and so she over rid the price and gave it to me for $9.99. Then I got a new Gypsy cover for $6.99 and a 3 pack of stylus's for $3.99. I seem to alway drop and break my stylus so I can never have too many of those.
While out shopping yesterday I hit Joann's. The Joann's up here put the one I'm my town to shame. I'm not kidding I walk into the Joann up here and it just takes my breath away. It's huge and amazing. It carries so much more stuff. I've been wanting this magnetic mat. I have a 12x12 black magnetic mat from Basic grey but when I saw the bigger PINK one I had to have it. So with my 40% off I got it. Yay!

Here are a couple of the paper packs that I also picked up. They were not marked but I've heard that they weren't marked. I took them up and both the Christmas 12x12 paper packs were $5.99 and then they had the 8x8 Metallic stack on clearance for $3.97. They had several 8x8 stacks on clearance but I only picked up this one.

First Layout of 2011

I really loved how this Layout turned out. It is the first LO I've done this year and really the first one I've done in a really long time. I've got so much catch up to do.
Over on the Cricut Message Board they do a Challenge where a sketch is posted and everyone creates a LO using the sketch as inspiration. I love this because then I know I will get at least one page done a week.  Here is the sketch where I got my inspiration.

I used the Imagine to print out the back ground paper from the Imagine More Cartridge. I then used the G&BS cart for the Circles. The piano, trumpet and phrase is from the Quarter Note cartridge and the flourish is from Home Decor.

Another Thank You

Yesterday I get a ring of the doorbell. I answer the door and it was another meal coming in for me and my family.  I can't believe the support that I have recieved during my back surgery recovery.  This gal has the sweetest little girls so this was the inspiration for this card. I used the Mickey Font for the the big Thank You. Then used a rub on for the Thank-You ~So very much. Then just doodled with a white pen.

Birthday Cards

I made a New Years Resolution this year to make sure I send more Birthday cards. I made these for no one particular in mind. I like how they turned out and think that they would work well for a male or female. I used the Base Camp Cartridge for the H and G&BS for the circle. The sentiments I printed off my computer onto vellum paper.

Many Thanks

I got another phone call yesterday from the mother of one our contractors at the shop and she had made us Manacotti and wanted to bring it over.  It was so sweet I had to make her a thank you and this is what I came up with. I used Stretch your Imagination for the bird house. I used Wild Card for the "many thanks". Then for the little bird on the house and the bigger bird on the envelope I used Straight from the Nest. It's hard to see in the photo but I used pop dots behind the house. I really like how this one turned out.

Greeting Card Storage File box

I saw these little wood boxes at Michaels the other day and I thought that it would be cute to use as a file box for greeting cards.  Well I didn't buy it. But then for the next few days I kept thinking about the simple little box.  Well a couple days later I'm back at Michaels (imagine that). Everything I bought was on sale and I needed something to use my coupon on. So I went and grabbed the little box for $5.99 minus 40%. This is what I did with it.

I painted the box with a plain white paint. Made some tabbed dividers. Made a monthly birthday list and added cards.
I used the Simply Sweet Cartridge for the tabs. I used some itty bitty lit Studio g Alphabet stamps to label each tab. Then did some basic doodling.
For the cards I used a lightweight chipboard and covered it with pattern paper. I could've decorated them a little more but wanted to keep it simple. Besides they won't really be seen, other than the tabs.
The Birthday list I made with a plain sheet of paper. I drew Lines and stamped each month on it.

Thank you cards!!

While I was going through my surgery people came in and brought my family meals. What a great comfort knowing they are taken care of. I had my mother in law there and my daughter is a great cook but it was one less thing they had to worry about. Then once I got home we recieved a few meals so it was a relief for me to not have to burden the family to make dinner. I am so Thankfull for all the ladies that took time out of there lives to make mine easier. I made them each Thank you cards with matching envelopes.

This cowboy hat card is for a gal that has the cutest little 3 yr old boy who is always wearing a cowboy hat and his favorite color is pink. I used the Cricut Cake cartridge Birthday cakes for the cowboy hat and the Martha Stewart border punch.
This card I used the new Smiley Cards for the first time and I used the peachy keen Simple sallies stamps for the first time as well. I think it turned out pretty cute. The punched flower border I used was from Recolections.
This butterfly card I used the Wall Decor and More Cartridge, Martha stewart border punch and the i-rock. The photo doesn't show but there are little i-rock crystals on the butterfly.
I made this card using only the Imagine. I used the best friends cartridge for the girl and the polk a dot background paper. I used Beyond Birthdays cartridge on the Imagine for the thank you. I also used the i-rock for the bling.I then printed the girl on the card, right onto the envelope.
This card is actually for a customer at my store who heard of my surgery and sent me a get well card. I thought that was so sweet. I needed a not girly card since he is male. I came up with the piano. I don't know him really so I don't know if he is into music but I figured music is for anyone. I used the new Quarter Note cartridge, which I love by the way.
Here is another card made with the Imagine. I used the Lori's Garden cartridge and again printed the butterfly right on the envelope.

Best Friends Clip board

I had this old clip board that I inherited from my grandma when she passed away. It's been sitting on my desk and I was ready to decorate it a little. I had my Imagine running the other night making some Thank You cards so I decided to use my Imagine, Best Friends Cartridge. This is what I came up with. I didn't layer so that it would lay flat. I covered the back with just the plaid paper same as front. Then I added some black inking to the edges.
