30 day's of Handmade Christmas gifts ~Day 23

Hello and welcome to day 23 of the 30 Days of Handmade Christmas Gift Giving Blog Hop! If you came here from Jill's blog over at the Scrapoholic then you are in the right place!  If you just stopped by my blog and would like to see the past 22 days of the Hop Jill has them posted on her blog so check it out.
I decided to make a Christmas Ornament. My MIL gave me one a long time ago and said here figure out how to make this.  It was pretty but I just never really did anything with it. Year after year it sat in my Christmas ornament box. I never used it. I would  unwrap it see what it was and wrap it back in paper.  So this year for this hop for whatever reason that little ornament came to mind.  So I went out digging through all of my Christmas stuff and I couldn't find the darn thing for the life of me. So I just went with what I could remember.

Now I was really surprised as to what it was made with.  I used a light bulb, a water bottle cap and a water bottle lid.

First thing I did was  poke a hole in the middle of the bottle cap.

Then I took a piece of wire and made a loop for hanging the ornament.

I then twisted the wire together on the inside of the bottle cap and added some hot glue to help reinforce it.

I then hot glued the cap to the light bulb.

Next you want to hot glue the  bottle lid the bottom of the light bulb.

Using a neutral color I paint the entire ornament. Then let it dry for maybe 10 minutes.

Next I took this Krylon Easy Tack. (The same spray glue I use to re stick my Cricut mats) I sprayed the ornament all over.

Then I took Martha Stewart Garnet Glitter and sprinkled it on the glue and this is what I came up with.

I went to Joann's before I begun the project and grabbed a few different things I thought would work for this project.  I only ended up using a couple of the items for this one.

I used the hot glue gun to attach the trim to the ornament. Now this is what I finished with and I really didn't like it. It was pretty and sparkly but I felt that something was missing.

So I found some ribbon with red and silver and glued it to the top and I think it turned out really pretty.  There are so many options for decorating. You could also take a vinyl letter and put it on then take it off when it was all done to make it a monogrammed ornament.

Well thank you for stopping by to take a look, I hope that you liked it. Be sure to check back tomorrow on Jill's blog to see who the next blogger is with another fun project.

I'm back!!!

Hi everyone! I know it's been awhile. It's been the craziest last 2 months.  I have lived at the same house for 16 years and my husband and I decided that it was time to move on.  We wanted a new start in a new place.  We came across a beautiful home that was the same size as the one we had but this one has a pool and fireplace and almost most important a dishwasher. I've never had an automatic dishwasher.  The problem was there wasn't really any "extra" rooms for a scrapbook room.  Now if you've followed me for a while or if you go into lables to scrapbook room you will see I had my own space at our old home so this move I was afraid was going to be devistating to my crafting space. But I've figured it all out and I absolutly love the new space.  I've still got a few boxes to unpack but when I do I will post pictures so you can see.
Now Jill over at the Scrapoholic has been doing a 30 days of handmade Christmas gift blog hop and tomorrow is my day.  I wanted to do a practice blog just to check in and make sure I still new how to blog...lol.  So please come back tomorrow and see what I've made for my day of Handmade Christmas gifts.

"Spooky"

Halloween is coming and although I don't really get into it as far as dressing up or even decorating I do have to say card making and scrapbooking Halloween is a lot of fun. I made the scallop shaped card on my gypsy using a gift tag from  Christmas Cheer. I hid some parts, welded other parts and this is what I came up with.  (I LOVE my Gypsy.)  The Skelleton head is from Indie Art and the Spooky stamp is a $1 bin stamp stamped with white ink.

For the inside I just added some orange paper and stamped Happy Halloween.

Hope you liked and arn't totally shocked to have gotten 2 post from me in a row...lol. I'm working on working smarter and not harder. Hope to see ya again tomorrow, thanks for stopping by.

I knew I could whip up the card super fast. .

Trick or Treat Blog Hop

Hi and Welcome to the Trick or Treat Blog Hop! I'm so Excited!!  I just  love treats and holders and what better time then Halloween.  There are 10 stops on this hop. If you just stopped by here and would like to start from the top then jump on over to Angie's blog Here.  If you just came from Angie's blog then you are in the right place.
The idea of this hop is to create a fun, quick and simple treat holder or card.  A while back I had seen this pencil holder tutorial on Youtube. It was for pencils and she had a Valentines Day theme so I changed it up a little. You can find this tutorial Here. It is from www.Kerryspapercrafts.com, Thank you Kerry.

I had made these with the intentions of buying suckers of some sort and I was at Sam's Club one day and saw these and I thought they would be the perfect treat for these holders. The box of 24 was $8 and some change.

I used papers from this paper pack. I love this paper. It's really cool Halloween print on a great quality paper and it's 2 sided.

Here is the base of the treat which measures 2"x11".  Then scored at 6 1/2" and 6 7/8"

             You then cut 3 pieces of printed paper at 2 at 1 3/4 x 6 1/8 and then 1 at 1 3/4 x 3 7/8.

I rounded the edges using my corner chomper at 1/2".

Then using the ATG I attached one piece to the inside of the treat base.

Then I attached the other 2 pieces to the outside of the Treat base.

Once the Treat is folded up this is what it will or should look like.

Then I took a 1" circle punch and punched a hole in the front.

I then stuck the candy stick into the hole.

Next you want to take some ribbon and tie it around. This helps to keep your treat closed and secured.

Now for the tag. I used this Fiscar punch and just punch coordinating Halloween paper.  The little sentiment I found online. I went back to try and find it for reference and couldn't find it anywhere. I will keep looking but it was a online free printable. I cut them out and attached to the treat.

This is your finished Halloween treat.  You can do so much with these for all the different seasons.

Thanks for stopping by our Trick or Treat blog hop today.  Your next stop is Crystal at the Rustic Daisy.

Sketchy Saturday!

Hi everyone! It's Sketchy Saturday time again.  This sketch is so much fun. It is Halloween theme and I just love it! If you would like to see the other design team creations from the sketch or to participate please hop on over to The Scrapoholic.

Here is my take on this sketch....

The background paper was from Revenhead Manor Recollections Collection.
The Spider/Web was cut from Mini Monsters.
The Boo! Stamp is from Michael's $1 bin.
The spider web has silver stickles.

I made this Layout while at a Michael's Crop night with my 12 year old daughter.  So I asked her if she wanted to do a layout from the sketch with me, and she agreed.  I honestly think hers turned out better then mine did. That and she finished in way less time then me.  So I just have to share.  Hope you like, feel free to leave some love.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look. Don't forget to go check out the other design team sketches at The Scrapoholic and play along.
